Hesperus fire
July 18, 2008

Fort Lewis Mesa Fire Protection District personnel remove a dryer where a fire started at Pine Wind Park in Hesperus along La Plata Highway (Colorado Highway 140) on Thursday. "It started in the clothes dryer and extended into the electric wiring," said Chief Steve Ebner. "The fire extended into the bathroom," he said. "They did a great job," Ebner said of his staff. A medical unit from the Durango Fire & Rescue Authority also responded. Fort Lewis Mesa Fire responded with three engines, a tanker, an ambulance and nine volunteers.
